Deva Racing visit to Oliver Greenall Racing, Saturday 22nd August
Our next trip out was to see some friends at Oliver Greenall Racing, who had just received two horses from the Deva Racing syndicate. You always know the visit is going to go well when your good friend Jo, the Travelling Head of Oliver Greenall Racing, is in an excitable, happy mood, which is pretty much anytime really. If she isn’t riding out she will be getting everything ready to take a horse to the races. In this case it was Fraterculus, who was off to run at Uttoxeter, around an hour away, and in doing so was making their yard debut. Get yourself a friend in racing even half as good as her, and you won’t go wrong, trust us!
Deva Racing was set up by Ryan Tongue, who used to ride for Oliver Greenall before setting up the racing syndicate. They have horses at Oliver Greenall, Tom Dascombe, Sam Allwood, Jonjo O’Neill, Dr Richard Newland, Olly Murphy, Donald McCain, Ian Williams, Christian Williams, and overseas in Gordon Elliott in Ireland and David Cottin in France. Putting the thrill of ownership to more people in affordable packages, in these strange times it makes more sense to join one of these syndicates and get into ownership, so you can experience the thrill of ownership, and maybe even find yourself on the presentation stand at various racecourses if you are lucky enough to see them win. For further information, visit https://devaracing.com/, or call Ryan on 07899750871.
The horses in question were Vexed, who is currently plying his trade over hurdles, and Five Bar Brian, who recently came to Oliver Greenall after being purchased out of Willie Mullins’ yard following his 25 length 11th place in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March, behind the winner and former stablemate Ferny Hollow. He is a very capable horse who should take high order among the novice hurdlers of the season ahead, and in doing so take the presence of the yard to much higher heights than previous seasons.
If you are interested in sending your horse to Stockton Hall, or would like to enquire about ownership, drop Oliver a message on ocg@stocktonhall.co.uk , and they will be happy to assist.
The day began with an assembly in the courtyard of all those who were either interested in joining or already members of the syndicate. Oliver gave a quick tour of the facilities, explained the ethos at Stockton Hall, and pointed out a few of the other flag bearers of the stable that have taken the team to new heights, such as exciting novice chaser Evander and the ultra reliable Strong Resemblance. Following this, a trip to the gallops to see the string in action was presented, and it can be safely argued that not one person who attended that visit did not have anything but a huge smile on their face.
Many thanks again to the team at Oliver Greenall Racing for the visit, and to Ed and Ryan at Deva Racing for their assistance in organising it. Hugely grateful to everyone for what was a fantastic morning!
