Countryside Day, Warwick Racecourse - Sunday 8th March 2020
Good afternoon from Warwick!
A decent looking card on Countryside Day, that also features the Local Parking Solutions Pug Gold Cup for Dogs. for everyone hoping for some pre-Cheltenham Festival form, or just a few extra pennies to spend on the racing. Or Guinness, depends how you feel about the meeting...
The first race is the Dreamland Bedding Centre Novices' Hurdle, a good looking card with three names that jump out of the card. Trincomalee won a hurdle here in February on Kingmaker Chase Day with some to spare, while The Cob brings some good form from his Aintree Graded Bumper behind McFabulous.
Nickolson is a locally trained horse by Olly Murphy, and he won his bumper a year last February at Ayr before making a winning hurdling and seasonal debut at Wincanton in October. Off since then, he comes here to make use of his potential ahead of further challenges down the line, potentially at Aintree.
The concluding bumper also features the return of Your Darling, who readily beat the exciting full brother to Sprinter Sacre in Flinteur Sacre at Newbury, who has since gone on to win effortlessly at Kempton. The latter is exciting, and surely this chap is too, and if he can make it 2/2 for the season in bumpers today, he will surely go into the summer high on any ante post list for the major spring festivals next season over hurdles.
A good looking Mares' Novices' Chase featuring Harry Fry's Litterale Ci, a very competitive Handicap Hurdle and the longest race of the day, a 3m 5f Handicap Chase featuring the enigmatic Le Reve and it promises to be a relaxing, exciting day at a jewel in the Jockey Club's Crown. Good luck to all!
